The first edition of Here & Elsewhere | ‏هُنا وهُنالِك is a 3-day short film festival and fundraising event at the Beirut Art Centre. Championing voices from Palestine and beyond, we spotlight communities facing systemic marginalization worldwide.
Rooted in beauty, joy, and the resilience of resistance, our films push past tired narratives of despair and stereotypes to reveal a richer, truer portrait of our region.
This edition’s spotlight director:
From Canada, Palestinian diaspora filmmaker Fateema Al-Hamaydeh Miller joins us in person to screen her award-winning short Mawtini and present a special preview of her debut feature Amwaj. Half of all festival proceeds will directly support the making of this powerful film.
The program features work from Arab and SWANA (Southwest Asia and North Africa) filmmakers, each drawing on their cultural heritage and using cinema as a language of resistance.
